Surrender (Refuge)

By taking refuge with the world, one becomes subservient, and in taking shelter under God, one acquires freedom.

Dependence on the world, is an obstruction for surrender to God.

Fear arises from others, not from our own. God is our own. By surrendering to God, man becomes fearless for all times.

On accepting the shelter of God, a devotee should have no doubts, no checks, no contrary feelings, nor touch-stone tests.

The recognition of constant relationship with God, means the surrender to God. On his surrender, the devotee becomes free from worry, fear, sorrow and doubt.

Giving up all selfish desires for God, is surrender to Him.

Surrender is not of the mind and intellect, but of the self.

There is no greater refuge than that of God.

Surrender and fortune "both these result in giving up of worries, not of efforts (i.e., scripturally ordained action).

Living beings are manifestly a fraction of God. As long as they do not take the refuge of God, of whom they are a fraction and surrender to others, they would become subservient and suffer.

Until man takes the refuge of God, till then no assistance whatever would sustain him and he would continue to suffer.

One who is not vain about his spiritual practice and who sees no other means of his blessedness (Kalyāņa), he is surely entitled to seek the refuge of God.

We should take the haven of one, who is not separate, distant, facing away from us and could not be parted with.

If one sees anything special in himself, that could obstruct him in surrendering to God.

The essence of the Vedas is in the Upaniṣads, the Gītā is the essence of the Upaniṣads and the essence of the Gītā is to surrender to God.

So long as one is vain of his own power, till then there could be no surrender to God.

Surrender is easy, but for a vain person, it is difficult. "I can do anything", this vanity, so long as it persists, will make surrender hard.

By surrendering to God, one achieves God, which could not be attained by mere effort.

From all points of view, there is no better way, than complete surrender to God alone.
