Sin and Piety

If anyone harms us, but really he helps us, it is because by such acts, our sins are removed.

The sins committed in human form, either in hell or going through 84 lakh births, are not exhausted and continue, and become the cause of births and deaths.

Where man is happy through favourable factors, or sad due to unfavourable circumstances, there and then, he gets bound by sin and piety.

To give importance to the perishable is bondage, and this leads to all sins.

If one desires happiness, even without wishing to commit a sin, yet a sin may take place. The desire for happiness induces us to sin. Therefore, if one wants freedom from sin, give up the desire for happiness.

When one wants to hurt others or has an axe to grind then sin accrues and puts one in bondage.

Hiding both sin and piety-result in special fruit, so reveal your sins but not your piety. (The Raksasa were declining everyday and night, just like piety waned by self-statements. Rāmacaritamānasa by Tulasīdāsa-Lańkäkända 72.2).

There is no greater virtue than turning a person towards God, and no charity like it.

To seek happiness for one's self, is the root of all sin.
