Save Yourself from Grave Sins
Brahmahatya Suarapanam Steyam Gurvangnagam
Mahanti Patakanyahu Sansargasgschapi Taee Saha
“Killing a Brahmin, drinking of alcohol, stealing gold etc., engaging in sexual relationship with Guru’s (Spiritual guide’s) wife, – these for are deadly sins. Anyone who lives for three years with the sinner who committed any one of these four great sins mentioned above, he too will get the same fruits as that of the vile sinner.”
I - Killing a Brahmin
Varnanam Brahmano Guru
Brahmin is the Guru of all four castes (Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaisya and Shudra). The extent to which the Brahmins have been responsible for spreading the knowledge of scriptures is far greater than any one else. Therefore it is a grave sin to kill a Brahmin. Similarly, whomever the whole world benefits from, killing such benevolent human beings, God’s devotee, and cows etc. is also a deadly sin. As the extent of the benefit the society derives from them, the sin of the same magnitude will be incurred if they are killed.
II – Drinking of Alcohol
Meat, egg, sulfa, and bhaang (form of opium) are all impure. And intake of drugs, cigarettes etc that lead to intoxication are a sin. But taking alcohol is a deadly sin. Alcohol destroys whatever little religious (dharmik) sentiments or interest in dharma, religious habit one has. Then man takes the course of downfall.
In process of creating alcohol, countless jeevas (life forms) are destroyed. The Holy Ganges purifies all but if anyone puts a vessel of alcohol in it, it does not get purified. If the vessel is so impure than it s difficult to imagine how impure an alcoholic would be. I have heard of Islam religion that in whatever part of body alcohol sticks, that part of the body should be cut and thrown away.
Question: Nowadays, in allopathic medicines, alcohol is mixed. For health, if anyone consumes it, will he incur this vile sin?
Swamiji: Whichever medicines have alcohol, consumption of those medicines will definitely incur sin.
Question: If a person in a family is alcoholic, then those who stay with him will they incur sin?
Swamiji: No. For the family, he is just a family member. They don’t stay with him voluntarily. They stay with him because they don’t have any other option. Similarly, if husband is alcoholic then wife has to stay with him day and night but she will not incur sin because she has no other option but to stay with him. The sin of bad company is only incurred when one does it voluntarily.
Question: If a person in a family is alcoholic, then those who stay with him will they incur sin?
Swamiji: If he sincerely feels remorse for the sin he has done and vows never to drink alcohol, then all his sins will be forgiven. Jeeva is naturally pure.
Chetan Amal Sahaj Sikhrashi
“Consciousness, without any impurity, natural abundance of joy”
So by leaving impurity he will gain his natural form of purity.
III – Stealing
Stealing anything is a sin. But stealing gold, jewelry etc is a deadly sin. The asset’s value will determine the sin incurred. The magnitude of sin increases correspondingly with the value of asset.
IV - Illicit sexual relations with Guru’s wife
By whichever means, sperm cells are destroyed they all are sin.
(In one drop of man’s semen, there are thousands of sperm cells (jeevas). During sexual intercourse these jeevas are destroyed. In womb, whichever sperm fertilizes the ovum, that jeeva eventually culminates into a body. All other jeevas are killed, so this sin of violence is committed. Yes, if sexual intercourse is done only with the intention of child in Ritukul, then sin is not incurred (Sin is committed but not incurred) because it is the order of scriptures and dharma.
Swabhavniyatam Karma Kurvannpnoti Kilbisham
“For performing the duty ordained by his own nature, man does not incur sin.”(Gita 18.47)
Dharmavirudho Bhooteshu Kaamosmi
“I am the sexual desire not conflicting with virtue or scriptural injunctions.”(Gita 7.11)
But having sex just for the sake of pleasure will definitely incur sin. That is why it is said
Ek Baar Bhag Bhog Te, Jeev Hate Nau Laakh
Jan Manor Naari Taji, Sun Gorakh Ki Saakh
“By having sex once, 9 lakh jeevas are killed. Gorakh’s advice is – Renounce women.”.
But maintaining sexual relationship with Guru’s wife is a deadly sin. That Guru who is educating us and making our life pure, such guru’s wife status is even greater than that of mother. Having sex with her is a terrible sin.
Maintaining other illicit sexual relationship is also a sin. If a man/woman is involved in it then mother-father, sister-brother etc and family of in-laws, both are deeply hurt. Giving sorrow to both families is a sin and by enjoying restricted pleasures that are boycotted by scriptures, dharma, society, family etc. is another sin. By doing these two sins together, illicit sex is also a kind of terrible, deadly sin. One intelligent man had told me his experience that by having illicit sex with a woman, faith in God diminishes and makes way for atheism, which is root of all disaster.
Hindu, Muslim, Christian whoever it may be, everyone should escape himself/herself from such sins. After attaining human body, one should at least not commit such sins; so that in future he does not ruin himself and go to wombs of ghost etc.
