Abortion - Worst of All Sins

From the worldly people's perspective, that which is the greatest source of happiness, that happiness without which a man who enjoys pleasures cannot stay without, that happiness which he cannot give up, the giver of that happiness that womb, that (through forced aborting) is destroyed - what can be greater sin than that?  It is the ultimate limit of unfairness, viciousness, and destruction.

Human body is the most rare of all forms of bodies.  It is the kind of birth that all movable and immovable beings desire to have -  "nar tana sama nahin kavniu dehi.  Jeev charaacher jaachat tehi."  (Manas; Utter 121:5)  When killing of human beings is considered a grave sin, and the murderer is not simply given a death sentence, but instead is imprisoned for life, then what is this abortion?  Isn't it a killing of an innocent man?  This intellect has become so beat up!  There is a Maarwadi saying - A dog pissed in the intellect!  Any man who cares about his own well being, cannot commit such an grave sin.  Any righteous person cannot approve this act.

There is no greater sin than abortion, there is no greater violence, no greater evilness, no greater injustice, no greater destruction of what has been done, no greater tyranny, no greater demoniac act!  There is no sin, no evil act that is even equal to abortion, then how can there ever be anything greater? It is not possible for any sin to be greater than abortion.  That which we cannot give birth to, to destroy it, we have no such rights.

The root of all sins is desire for happiness.  Just like within the seed of a tree, there lies miles of forests, similarly, the desire for sense pleasures, all filled with sorrows and all sins.  In other words, when man only for desire for his happiness, engages in a relationship with a woman, not with the desire for children, then this is the first sin.  Then after the woman is impregnated, then to destroy that fetus, this is second very grave sin in the form of killing of the fetus.  There is a saying that even a poison tree planted by us, cannot be chopped off then through us the creation of an innocent fetus, to destroy by yourself, is such a terrible sin.  The fruit of such a terrible sin will have to be born, no one can escape it –

avashya meva bhoktavyam krtam karma shubhaashubham

Remember, that sufferings undergone for the happiness of others, in the end results in great joy; but for our happiness, the suffering given to others, will give terrible pain and sorrow.  Now you only decide, what is it that you want - great joy or great sorrow?

The soul that comes into the womb has the knowledge of many life times.  Therefore Srimad Bhagwat has said that a embodied soul, in form of fetus in the womb has been called a "Rishi"  (Jnani) -

Naathmaan Rishibhritah

(Sri. Bhagwat 3:31:11)

Evam krtamatirgarbhe dashmaasyah stuvannrushi

(Sri. Bhagwat 3:31:22)

By undergoing abortion, one Rishi is killed.  What can be a greater sin than that?  Compared to this, there has been no other greater sin found in the scriptures.  What will become the state of those who commit such horrifying and fearsome sins, Bhagwaan only knows!

"Garbhsth baccheki hatyaakaa aankhon dekhaa vivaran."

In America year 1984 there was a gathering -  "National Rights to Life Convention."  In this gathering, through a well-known Dr. Bernard Nathenson, an ultra-sound film of an abortion called "Silent Scream" the description of that film was like this -

"The innocent female child in the womb was 10 weeks old.  She was quite alert. She was seen in the mother's womb playing, twisting and turning, sucking thumb.  You could also see the beating of the heart, which was beating 120 beats.  Everything was normal; but the minute the first suction pump touched the wall of the womb, that innocent child out of fear immediately turned and shrunk, contracted, and her heart began to beat faster.    At this time no suction pump had even touched the girl child, yet she had the experience that there is something that is attempting to attack her in her protected, restful place.

Terrified we were watching how the suction pump was chopping the innocent, sweet doll-like child.  First waste, then legs etc., were slowly being chopped up in pieces, just like it was a life-less creature and similar to carrot and radish, and the child in pain is being tossed around, contracting and shrinking, turning and twisting is restlessly tossing, making every effort to escape from this suction pump.  She was so petrified that at one point her heart was beating at 200 beats per minute!  I saw with my own eyes her jirking her head back and opening her mouth and trying to scream, therefore Dr. Nathenson, appropriately called this film the "Silent Scream". In the end we even saw that horrifying sight, of an instrument like prongs that is searching for the head, to crush it, and by pressing the somewhat hard head, breaking and crushing it, because the portion of the head, without it being broken and crushed, cannot be easily suctioned out with the suction tube.

This murder, this killing, this horrifying act, it's completion took about fifteen minutes and thoughts about that sorrow-filled sight far greater, as the doctor who had performed the abortion, and Dr. Nathenson, who had made the film, simply for curiosity’s sake, they both when they saw the film, they left the clinic, never to return again!
